Australian Jewellery label, Holly Ryan and Pared Eyewear have collaborated for SS19 to create a range inspired by American Minimalist sculptor, Richard Serra. The Serra frame is a classically oversized style with Holly’s signature squiggle jewellery design as the key design detail for the collection.
The pared team met Holly at the 2017 MBFWA in Sydney which ignited a creative spark between the brands. Since then, Holly and pared Creative Director, Sam Stevenson, have worked together to create the collection, referencing back to Holly’s jewellery and sculptural ranges. The Serra frames launched a year later at the 2018 MBFWA, establishing new ground in the eyewear and jewellery collaboration sectors.
The Serra frame is available in two selections, one an all acetate frame with a thick arm detail, and second a unique, metal squiggle arm in gold and silver. The shape references Holly’s distinctive squiggle which has become an iconic signature of the brand since 2013. The style is referenced across her design range of earrings, necklaces, bangles, shoes, belts and now, sunglasses.
The colour palette matches back with Holly’s range of accessories in black, terracotta, khaki, blush & amber. The lenses feature a combination of solid and gradient browns, oranges and greys; a natural and minimalist nod for Summer.
About the collaboration, Creative Director and co-founder of Pared, Samantha Stevenson said:
I am a big believer in things happening naturally and when we met we had a mutual excitement to work together. I have always admired Holly’s work and am drawn to jewellery instinctively. We worked together to bring Holly’s aesthetic to eyewear and I’m very proud of the result to me is classic, considered and unique.
