From Canberra Batemans Bay is only a two hour drive. Arriving into the Batemans Bay Area, you instantly feel relaxed in this seaside community and pulling into the retro inspired motel you almost forget about the world outside as there is a lot to appreciate.
The hotel itself has such a strong attention the small details with a midcentury modern feel. From the terrazzo tiling in the bathroom and in the bedrooms, to the breeze blocks and duck egg blue outdoor tiling, there is something very vintage but modern about the property, where comfort is key. The Cantina is fabulous with vending machines with everything from snacks, to wine to create comforts you may have forgotten in your suitcase.
On the way we drove from Canberra and stopped in at the historic towns of Bungendore and Braidwood for a little op shopping, pie eating and strolling.
Across the road from the hotel is the best park for children which was an enormous plus. Other things around Batemans Bay we loved were oyster shucking, eating fresh seafood, swimming at McKenzies Beach or snorkelling at Guerilla Bay and eating at Crumb Cafe.
On the way home we took the scenic route back to Melbourne, past gorgeous coastal towns such as Narooma, Meriumbula and then through Lakes Entrance back in Victoria. If you had three to four days to stop along the way it would be a perfect trip with so much to see in that region.
